History of Our Church
Spring of 1831 Settlers in Princeville, Illinois join Daniel Prince to start a church.
August 17, 1834 First service of the Presbyterian Church of Princeville was held with 17 newcomers. This was the first Presbyterian Church in Peoria County.
September 1866 The main sanctuary of the present church was built for $6,165.63 and was dedicated to God.
August 13, 1867 Church bell was obtained and is still rung at all occasions since.
Throughout 1888 Significant additions were made including: annex, basement, raising of the structure, office area, partitioning the basement, kitchen, vinyl siding and a new church entrance.
July 9, 1905 Dedicated the pipe organ that is still used in the church today.
August 15 & 16, 1909 Our church celebrated its 75th with 280 friends and family.
August 16 - 19, 1934 Our church celebrated its Centennial with a four day celebration.
1965 The first women elders were installed on Session; Laura Sentz Basehoar and Carolyn Stahl Grebner.
August 18 & 19, 1984 Our church celebrated its 150th Sesquicentennial with a pageant, food, music and exhibits.
May 4, 1986 Dedication of the Ruth Corney Fellowship Hall, kitchen, lounge as well as an toddler and infant nurseries made possible by the generous memorial gift.
Spring of 1991 The current sanctuary was remodeled and expanded including: new stained glass windows, expanded altar area with a 6 foot wooden cross inside the arched built in.
August 16, 2009 We celebrated our 175th Anniversary with a concert and potluck for all to attend.
